In the air no longer means out of the loop. A new service offered by Airfone and CBS News allows passengers aboard all domestic commercial aircraft equipped with Verizon Airfone in-flight telephone service to access up-to-the-minute news. Every hour, the latest headlines compiled by CBS will be shown as a scrolling message on the Airfone handset. Passengers have the option (for $4.99) of listening to a detailed three-minute newscast.
The news service is transmitted through an automated telephone application developed and hosted by XO Communications. Airfone domestic commercial airline partners include United, Continental, Delta, USAirways, American, Midwest Express and Air Wisconsin.
