New Samsung Galaxy phones are now compatible with the NextRadio FM listening app on all carriers. This includes the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge and Note7 models. Emmis-backed NextRadio called attention to a software update announced Friday by Verizon.
Samsung becomes the first manufacturer fully compatible across all carriers, NextRadio added.
As described on Verizon Wireless website, “The latest software update unleashes the FM tuning capabilities of your Galaxy S7 edge. You’ll be able to see, hear and interact with your favorite local radio stations with apps such as NextRadio, which use less battery and data than most streaming services.”

As Radio World reported in spring, NextRadio has been highlighting a large increase in the number of FM chip-enabled mobile phones becoming available this year thanks to introductions like the Samsung models that rolled out earlier this year.
