Virgin Islands Radio Owner Accused of Tax Evasion

IRS says owner of Christiansted FMs hasn’t paid corporate or individual taxes in seven years

The federal government says Virgin Islands radio station owner Jonathan Cohen hasn’t filed federal tax returns in seven years.

The IRS claims the owner of Christiansted FM stations WJKC, WVIQ and WMNG failed to file individual or corporate tax returns between 2004 and 2010, reports Virgin Islands Daily News.

Cohen had his returns prepared but did not file them, according to documents filed in District Court by the IRS.

The documents show that he realized a gross income averaging $1.8 million annually between 2004 and 2010 and that Cohen’s net taxable income for that same time period averaged $220,000, according to the account.

The judge in the case set bail at $50,000, which Cohen satisfied with a bond to secure his release.
