VOA’s ‘Net Service Passes 1st Year

The Voice of America’s online international news service, VOANEWS.COM, marked one year of service on Nov. 1. VOA provides its Internet audience with current news and features in 53 languages paired with more than 200 hours of audio and video programs streamed daily. Examples include Arabic, Chinese, Indonesian, and Russian.
The web site also highlights VOA’s Special English, which includes an online version of a dictionary of about 1,500 basic words used in VOA’s programs in slow-speed.
