Vodaphone Germany Adopts aacPlus Codec for Music Downloads on Cell Phones

Vodafone Germany has introduced its new Vodafone Live! Music download service, based on Coding Technologies’ aacPlus. Audio compression developer Coding Technologies said the service would be demonstrated during CeBit (in Hannover, Germany) at the Vodafone booth (FG/E03).
Vodafone Germany is the second operator to adopt Coding Technologies’ aacPlus audio codec in Europe. Standardized in MPEG-4, aacPlus is use by SK Telecom in South Korea for its “June” mobile multimedia service.
The Vodafone service uses Musiwave’s Music On Demand Service that allows full length and secured downloads of music directly to mobile handsets. After 30 seconds of download the song will start to play automatically.
