Automaker Volkswagen is working with Hit-Radio Antenne Niedersachsen to develop “Hybrid-Radio.”
According to the Hit-Radio Anetnne Niedersachsen website, listeners will be able to build a custom playlist, including both music and local news, for playback in the car. Live radio and additional programs will also be offered via the device.
For example, the system can be told to play music from one station, then switch to local news on another station at a preset time and then to go to music from a third station. A mobile Internet connection is used to keep the playlists up to date.
Tests are planned for Lower Saxony in early 2011 to see how the system works on the road.
