German private broadcasting organization Verband Privater Rundfunk und Telemedien (VPRT) re-elected its latest leadership team at meetings in November in Frankfurt am Main.
Jürgen Doetz of ProSiebenSat.1 Media continues as president of the federation, while Hans-Dieter Hillmoth of Radio/Tele FFH and Dr. Tobias Schmid of RTL Television were reaffirmed as radio chair and television/multimedia chair, respectively.
During the meetings, Hillmoth called for a resolution of the long debate over the introduction of digital radio in Germany. Ensuring the success of digital radio services, he said, will require coordinated local, regional and national action, as well as financial support from federal authorities and cooperation with public-service broadcasters.
“The private radios are not willing to bear alone all the risk of digitization,” he said.
