In Flanders, public broadcaster Vlaamse Radio en Televisieomroep (VRT) ordered a Soundcraft console for its new radio OB truck.
VRT expects to commission the OB vehicle, equipped with a Soundcraft Vi4 digital console, by the end of 2008.
Offering similar facilities and functionality to the larger Vi6 and also featuring a Vistonics II touch-screen interface and SCore Live processing engine, the Vi4 is designed for more space-conscious applications.
The Vi4 has 48 inputs on 24 faders, with a total of 27 output buses available. Integration with other equipment is simplified by the use of formats including AES/EBU and MADI.
“We wanted an optical link between the truck and the stage, and MADI is an open standard,” said VRT Operations Manager Wim Moortgat. “This gives us the best of both worlds and from an ergonomic point of view also provides the best solution — we needed a 24-fader desk to handle live music mixing and the Vi4 meets the price point, and is easy to navigate and operate.”
Soundcraft’s Belgian distributor, Audio XL, handled the sale.
