WBAI Is Moving Around

Moving studios to Harlem and staff stays at Wall Street

Leave it up to Radio Survivor to get out the news that New York’s Pacifica station, WBAI(FM) is looking for volunteers to help it move to new studios. WBAI’s own website doesn’t mention the call for help.

Thanks to the generosity of New York City neighbor WHCR(FM), “The Voice of Harlem,” located on the campus of City University of New York, WBAI’s on-air operations will share the premises as roomies. Not exactly the Odd Couple but …

Meanwhile, the “staff” will be hanging out at 4 World Financial Center, where some rent-free space has been secured; for the moment. WBAI is looking for space to get everyone together permanently. Its former Wall Street/lower Manhattan space was damaged in the Sandy flooding, and it was too expensive as well, according to Station Manager – Berthold Reimers in his January newsletter to supporters.
