The Radio-Television News Directors Association announced regional winners of the Edward R. Murrow Awards for excellence in electronic journalism.

RTNDA received 3,150 regional entries. Judges gave 587 awards to 280 stations in 14 categories, including overall excellence, spot news, continuing coverage and investigative reporting, among others.

Several stations have been honored with multiple Murrows, with 11 to Hearst Radio’s WBAL(AM), Baltimore – the most of any radio or television station – followed by Atlanta’s WSB(AM), which received 10. KIRO(AM), Seattle won nine. Winning eight each were WBZ(AM) in Boston, WUNC(FM), Chapel Hill, N.C., and KCBS(AM), San Francisco.

Regional winners become eligible for the national awards competition, presented in October in New York.
