WCPE’s Deborah Proctor Garners IEEE Award

GM is honored by the Eastern North Carolina Section with its Technical Achievement Award.

WCPE(FM) GM Deborah Proctor is the recipient of a Technical Achievement Award from the Eastern North Carolina Section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.

The award was given “in recognition of her enterprise, innovation and entrepreneurial drive in the conception, development and successful evolution of WCPE, The Classical Station.” WCPE is a noncommercial station based in Wake Forest, N.C.

Proctor is a founder of the station; the IEEE section said she has served for three decades as a representative for public radio interests with Congress and the state Department of Administration Division of Public Telecommunications Public Radio Advisory Committee.

She’s been an active member of the Society of Broadcast Engineers since 1988; she also is a founding member and current president of the North Carolina Public Radio Association.
