WCRB to Greater Media? Station Is Subject of ‘Exclusive Negotiations’

Classical music station WCRB in Boston may soon be a Greater Media station, although it hasn’t happened yet.
Greater Media and Charles River Broadcasting said they will “enter into exclusive negotiations for Greater Media’s acquisition of Charles River’s WCRB, a Class B FM radio station broadcasting at 102.5 MHz in the Greater Boston area,” hoping to complete an agreement by Feb. 1.
“The parties have agreed to keep their discussions confidential during the exclusivity period,” they announced.
Greater Media President/CEO Peter Smyth said the deal would “give Greater Media’s Boston cluster a significant signal upgrade, which will be critical as we expand our investment in HD and multicasting.”
