WDEL to Get Simulcast

FM acquired from QC Communications

Delmarva Broadcasting Co. has announced that it is firing up its newly acquired WDEL(FM), Wilmington, Del., to simulcast its flagship WDEL(AM) news and information station, starting April 2.

The station was formerly WJKS, Canton, N.J., owned by QC Communications, also of Wilmington. Acquisition began in December of last year.

Delmarva Broadcasting VP/General Manager Michael Reath said, “WDEL is already the dominate news station in Delaware and WDEL.com is the most visited broadcast media website in the state. Adding an FM signal to these existing platforms strengthens our ability to serve listeners, advertisers and the community as a whole.”

He added, “Plus, there are some younger demographic groups who are unfamiliar with AM radio stations. Being on FM will open up new audiences for all of our great content.”
