Website Can Help You Do Your Part to Stop Copper Theft

Put Scrap Theft Alert in your Favorites window

Fed up with crime? Ever wanted a shot at being “Batman”? How about “Copper Man”?

“Scrap Theft Alert,” a theft reporting site, offers the next best thing.

Radio World has reported on this site before; faithful reader Paul Sakrison informs us of a recent copper theft story out of Miami that mentions this crime-fighting tool.

Scraptheftalert.com is run by the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries and aims to be a tool for law enforcement to fight the thefts of materials in the United States and Canada.

But the site doesn’t appear to be getting as much use as it could be. For instance the great state of California, home to Paul Sakrison, has only five total theft reports as of this morning.

Reports of theft aren’t limited just to copper but can also include fire hydrants, cemetery markers and manhole covers.
