If you can’t get to AES, bring AES to you.
Or so might go the thinking at Webster University, where that school’s AES student chapter is hosting its Second Annual Regional AES Student Summit in St. Louis on April 4-6.
Student pre-registration is now open. The price is $20 for the event. Housing also is available for $10 a night, but the university says there are a limited number of rooms available.
The chapter says the event is modeled after larger AES conventions, but it is on a smaller scale, and serves as an opportunity for students from the central region, some of whom cannot attend conventions in New York or California, to mingle with peers from other educational institutions, as well as professionals.
Confirmed guests include Bob Katz, Bob Heil and John Storyk. SSL, Shure, Roland and Yamaha are sponsoring the summit. Events include “Internships and Entry-Level Positions,” “The Future of Analog,” and “Women in Audio.” There also will be a recording competition with prizes such as a silent PC.
