Audacy’s WEEI(AM/FM), the Boston sports-talk station, and NESN (New England Sports Network) raised approximately $7.3 million during their annual Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon to support adult and pediatric cancer care and research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

The total marks the largest number raised in a year since the event was established in 2002. By comparison, last year’s broadcast set a then-record of $5.7 million.

The power of teamwork was on display: According to Audacy, around 85% of the total donations were gifts under $250.

WEEI broadcast live from Boston’s Fenway Park on Aug. 17–18 from 6 a.m. to midnight. Current and former Boston sports stars joined the broadcast throughout the two days, including Red Sox Hall of Famer David Ortiz.

Dana-Farber pediatric and adult patients attended games on both nights and took part in special on-field ceremonies, including singing the national anthem, throwing out the ceremonial first pitch, and serving as honorary team members alongside the Red Sox lineup.

A special check presentation will take place on the field at Fenway Park prior to the Red Sox game on Sept. 2.

Since its inception in 2002, the Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon has raised around $87 million for Dana-Farber.
