Westwood One has chosen George King to be vice president of programming, network formats. He will oversee the company’s 24-hour country formats, which air on nearly 700 stations nationwide.
King most recently served as regional operations manager and western region brand leader of country for Townsquare Media, after a career that included stops as ops manager at WCTO(FM) and WLEV(FM) Allentown, Pa., as well as for the Clear Channel cluster in San Antonio. He also served in programming positions at WMZQ(FM) in Washington, KCYY(FM) and KKYX(AM) in San Antonio, and KNIX(FM) and KOY(AM) in Phoenix.
King will be based in Westwood One’s 24-hour format production center in Denver, effective Sept. 15, 2014.
