Maxie C. Jackson III will join WETA as program director on Jan. 18. He comes to the company after six years as acting general manager for public radio station WEAA(FM) at Morgan State University in Baltimore.
In addition to his work with WEAA, Jackson joined Radio One in 2001 as an assistant director of programming, where he assisted in the implementation of radio programming provided by Radio One Satellite Programming to XM Satellite Radio. Additionally, he serves on the executive board of the African-American Public Radio Consortium and has been a member since 2000.
In his new position, Jackson will manage daily radio operations, such as supervision of on-air, production and operations staff. He also will develop programming initiatives in response to the interests and needs of communities within WETA’s radio broadcast area.
