WGN to Celebrate 90

Walk of Fame to highlight anniversary

Plaques like this one for WGN sportscaster and host Jack Brickhouse will be embedded in the space outside of the Trubune Tower to commemorate famed WGN radio hosts. Hollywood has its Walk of Fame and soon so will WGN(AM) in Chicago.

The well-known station is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, June 1 being the official day.

As part of the festivities, the station is inaugurating its own WGN Radio Walk of Fame, to be located outside the first floor WGN Radio/Allstate Showcase Studios at the Tribune Tower in Chicago.

The first 10 WGN personalities to be honored by the walk will be Jack Brickhouse, Bob Collins, Roy Leonard, Judy Markey, Spike O’Dell, Kathy O’Malley, Wally Phillips, Milt Rosenberg, Quin Ryan and Orion Samuelson. The official dedication will be June 27, with a live broadcast.

WGN Radio Vice President of Content Todd Manley said, “Our inaugural Walk of Fame class represents all nine decades of WGN Radio’s life in Chicago.”

The station has a number of 90th anniversary events going during the year including videos, “Throwback Thursday” social media and plenty of related programming. See here for more information.
