... While in Colorado, KUNC Will Flip Digital Switch ...

Greeley, Colo., will have a new digital signal, perhaps in early May.
KUNC(FM) at 91.5 plans to install HD Radio “shortly after this year’s NAB,” said Chief Engineer Larry Selzle, who said he knows of no other FMs in Colorado using HD Radio at present.
KUNC received funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting for its conversion. It is operated by Community Radio for Northern Colorado.
The station is involved in a major construction project; it has just completed moving to a new tower 15 feet from the old one and increasing its antenna height to 211 meters above average terrain.
“We’ve replaced the old ERI antenna with a new Shively 6810-8R eight-bay antenna, new Andrew 3-inch transmission line and a new ERP of 81 kW,” Selzle told Radio World. “This phase is still wrapping up and we’ve received positive reports from listeners.
“Sometime next week, KUNC will take delivery of a new Nautel Q30 30 kW transmitter to replace its aging, highly modified Continental transmitter. For HD Radio, KUNC has ordered a Harris Z12HDS transmitter and will use high-level signal combining.”
