... While Radio One's Was Up

Also on the financial front, Radio One reported its results for the quarter.
Net broadcast revenue was up 7% to $82.1 million compared to last year at this time. Operating income and station operating income were off.
CEO/President Alfred C. Liggins III said the quarter, while challenging, “was actually better than the guidance we gave back in February of this year. We are mindful of the fact that our exceptional performance in Q1 of 2005, when we outgrew our markets by 500 basis points, would make this year’s first quarter that much more difficult.”
He said Radio One is focusing on growth in markets like Philadelphia and St. Louis and improvement in Los Angeles and Cincinnati, among others.
Radio One has 71 stations in 22 markets, including pending deals.
