There are those in other media who say radio advertising may not be particularly effective. But don’t tell that to Hamilton Equipment Services of Warrenton, Va.
Gleaned from a small story in The Washington Post: While Hurricane Sandy raged in the area, a DJ for Washington-area country music WMZQ(FM) offered to be a middleman for folks desperate to obtain a power generator and those who had a spare one to sell. It wasn’t long before a Hamilton employee called in to say the exurban equipment reseller had two-dozen newly arrived generators for sale. First come, first served.
Soon enough callers were taking dibs on the generators and Hamilton’s showroom suddenly received a wave of walk-in traffic — all while Sandy’s wind and rain continued to lash the area.
