WNYC to Move

WNYC to Move

After 81 years, WNYC AM-FM/New York Public Radio is moving its studios for the first time. The New York Daily News reported last week the station, now in New York City’s Municipal Building at 1 Centre St., is moving to 160-170 Varick St. and exchanging approximately 51,000 square feet of space for nearly 72,000 square feet plus an additional 3,700-square-foot performance studio.
The paper quoted CEO Laura Walker as saying construction should begin within a few months and is expected to last between 12 to 18 months. The cost is still being worked out, according to the account.
