WorldDAB, Korea to Demo Digital Multimedia Broadcasting at IBC

WorldDAB, Korea to Demo Digital Multimedia Broadcasting at IBC

The WorldDAB Forum, a group that markets the Eurkea-147 technology, is inviting attendees of the upcoming IBC in Amsterdam to see what it says is the first European demonstration of Digital Multimedia Broadcasting for television.
Co-exhibitor Korean Broadcasting Service plans to deliver a demo of terrestrial DMB using DAB over prototype product from Samsung.
DMB uses DAB technology to deliver television, video, audio and data to mobile devices. Recently, the Korean government approved the introduction of terrestrial DMB broadcasts of television programs to mobile devices, and later this year, commercial products are expected to be available from manufacturers such as Samsung and LG.
Korea intends to launch 48 free channels using DMB by the end of the year.
For digital radio at IBC, WorldDAB will exhibit the latest DAB receivers, including product from manufacturers such as Sony, Panasonic, Sharp and Blaupunkt. A special multiplex will broadcast a variety of DAB services throughout the show.
The IBC runs Sept. 9 – 14 in Amsterdam. Radio World International will be there.
