WorldSpace Satellite Radio has launched its first company-branded Arabic-language channels. The overseas satellite digital radio broadcaster says the commercial music channels, called Ranin and Min Zaman, offer subscribers contemporary pop hits and classic Arab hits from the Middle East.
Available on the company’s AfriStar satellite, the channels can be heard in a dozen countries in the Middle East and North Africa, says WorldSpace.
They are part of the company’s efforts to increase market presence in the Middle East, including a planned rollout of mobile satellite radio services in at least one market in the region this year.
