WPFW Fined for EAS Violations

The FCC fined Pacifica station WPFW(FM) in Washington $3,000 for EAS violations. The commission states WPFW failed to conduct required monthly and weekly EAS tests and did not verify the log in writing by the chief operator.
Pacifica does not dispute the violations. It told the FCC it fixed the infractions and asked for the fine to be reduced or cancelled because it is a small business.
The agency states that being a small business alone, without providing financial documentation of an inability to pay, is not sufficient and gave the station 30 days to pay the penalty.
