Jeff Spurgeon is now the director of content for Big Apple classical music station WQXR.
He is the station’s chief announcer and morning host. The new title makes him responsible for policy, development and execution of on-air and on-line content, as well as programming-related print content.
Margaret Mercer continues as PD, responsible for day-to-day programming on WQXR and WQXR.com.
Spurgeon came to the New York Times station in 1997 in the news department and was named mid-day host in 1999.
