Hubbard Radio’s top-rated news station, WTOP(FM) in Washington was the victim of a cyber attack on its website Tuesday.
A banner at the station’s website said: “WTOP.com has been the victim of a malicious cyber attack. The attack only affected users of Internet Explorer…”
An explanation said that the attack included an attempted malware attack on visitors using the Internet Explorer browser. The station indicated that users of other browsers would not be harmed.
The station was working to remedy the attack but cautioned that visitors within the previous 36 hours who used Internet Explorer should have their computers checked for malware.
