Washington stations Hubbard-owned WTOP(FM) and NBC-owned WRC(TV) are forming a news partnership.
The partnership begins March 25 and combines the resources of both stations on content like news, traffic and weather on radio, television, digital and mobile devices. Both stations also say they’ll cover breaking news in a collaborative way.
NBC4’s Storm Team 4 meteorologists will provide forecasts every 10 minutes on the eights on WTOP, which will also be featured on WTOP.com and on WTOP’s social properties. Reporters from both NBC4 and WTOP will be showcased on each other’s newscasts throughout the morning, daytime and night.
Officials from both stations say the combination of efforts will benefit listeners and viewers. News-formatted WNEW(FM), Washington has a similar partnership with WJZ(TV), Baltimore. CBS owns both outlets.
The news means WTOP is ending its partnership with Sinclair-owned WJLA(TV).
