XM Explores Weather Market

A new data-only weather service will be available on a subscription basis from XM Satellite Radio this summer.
XM and Weather Works have introduced what they call an advanced weather service to deliver real-time graphical weather data to mobile users. It is targeted at the marine, aviation and emergency management markets.
This service uses Weather Works’ Storm Cell Identification & Tracking technology and Nexrad Radar.
XM’s satellite broadcast infrastructure provides the method of transmitting the weather data to mobile users in the contiguous United States and coastal waters.
