Nissan North America is looking to XM Satellite Radio to supply data long-term to the automaker. Under a new deal, the satcaster will provide satellite-delivered data to enable telematics services, such as in-vehicle messaging and XM NavTraffic, which delivers current traffic information to Nissan and Infiniti navigation systems.
XM President/CEO Hugh Panero called the agreement “a major milestone” and said XM has devoted a lot of time and “significant” resources of its traffic service and other auto data capabilities over two years.
Nissan offers XM as an option on all models of Nissan and Infiniti vehicles.
