XM Satellite Radio, in collaboration with the National Marrow Donor Program and The Marrow Foundation, today have public service announcement promoting November as National Marrow Awareness Month. Different versions of the PSAs are available for radio stations across the country to download from http://www.marrowpsa.org.
Quincy Jones anchors PSAs produced for Urban format radio stations. These PSAs highlight the compelling story of a young woman whose life was saved by a bone marrow transplant. Also available for download are spots featuring NASCAR great Jeff Gordon and other drivers encouraging listeners to sign up for the NMDP Registry. These PSAs are produced for use by sports radio, country stations and other formats.
The http://www.marrowpsa.org Web site will be a year-round resource for radio stations to download public service announcements promoting donor registration. The site will be updated regularly with spots recorded by recording artists and celebrities lending their voices to this initiative.
Immediate family members of two XM employees, including Mary Beth Durkin, wife of XM President/CEO Hugh Panero, have had marrow transplants from donors identified from the registry.
