In a big-time talent deal, XM said Oprah Winfrey’s production company agreed to a three-year deal to launch an Oprah channel on the satcaster. Reuters pegged the value of the contract at $55 million.
“Oprah & Friends” will debut in September featuring original programming from Harpo Radio Inc., including regular segments hosted by personalities from “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and O, The Oprah Magazine and an exclusive weekly radio show with Winfrey and Gayle King. The channel will originate from a new XM studio at Harpo Studios in Chicago.
