“G-o-o-a-a-llll!” XM will launch a Spanish-language sports channel in partnership with soccer play-by-play announcer Andres Cantor. Cantor is also chairman of a soccer programming syndicator in Hispanic radio.
GM will sponsor the channel, set to launch in July. It will feature Spanish coverage of the FIFA World Cup Germany 2006, including qualifying matches, beginning later this year. XM will carry English-language coverage of World Cup soccer matches on a separate channel. In addition, the channel will feature sports coverage from Latin America and Mexico, including baseball and boxing.
The new channel joins six other XM streams of Spanish-language music and news channels.
