XM Satellite Radio will pour $100 million into an ad campaign for its soon to-be-launched pay radio service. $45 million is slated for Q4 spending over several media: TV, national radio, newspapers, magazines, outdoor and online.
Called “Radio to the Power of X,” the ad campaign is slated to begin Aug. 12 with XM actually beginning its satellite service in two markets Sept. 12, Houston/Ft. Worth and San Diego. It plans to begin service to other Western markets, such as Las Angeles and Denver by Mid-October.
