XM: War Giving Its News Channels Boost

XM Satellite Radio’s lineup of national news and information channels, led by Fox News, CNN and BBC World Service, is delivering to subscribers real-time access to coverage of the Iraqi War. The satcaster said this marks the first time that television-based coverage of a major international conflict is available to radio listeners nationwide.
“XM has broken the tether to the television during this time of national uncertainty,” said XM President and CEO Hugh Panero.
An online survey conducted March 21 – 24, 2003, of XM subscribers found that the Iraqi conflict has caused more than half of them (52%) to listen to XM’s news channels more often than normal.
“Just as cable and satellite TV have become invaluable news resources, XM has fast become an indispensable, real-time information service provider to our mobile society,” Panero said. “With XM, there’s no more waiting for the ‘Top of the Hour,’ or searching the AM or FM dial for updates.”
XM offers 12 news and information channels including Fox News, CNN, CNN Headline News, CNNfn, CNBC, ABC News & Talk, Bloomberg, BBC World Service and C-SPAN.
