Sea Launch has put XM Satellite Radio’s fourth satellite into space.
The company delivered the Boeing XM-4 into a geosynchronous transfer orbit, on its way to an orbital location for in-orbit testing prior to placement in its final position at 115 degrees West Longitude.
The XM-4 replaces two co-located XM satellites and is expected to have a 15-year lifespan; XM-4 will have 18 kilowatts of total power once it’s in its final orbit.
