Bill Weisinger, a broadcast engineer in the Cleveland/Akron, area, died of cancer at the Maplewood Care Center in Streetsboro, Ohio, on Nov. 5.
He was 61, according to RecordPub.com.
Weisinger, who lived in Streetsboro, was a longtime SBE member. The Bowling Green University grad held an FCC First Class License and was a certified SBE Radio/TV Broadcast Engineer. He was a Lynbrook, N.Y., native.
The former WSTB station manager and director of engineering also created and programmed the “Sunday Oldies Jukebox, ” which aired on non-commercial WSTB(FM). That station is licensed by the Streetsboro City Schools; its offices and studios are in the local high school.
Weisinger was an adjunct professor at the school of Journalism & Mass Communication at Kent State University and served as a mentor to the many high school and university students who crossed his path who had an interest in broadcasting, according to colleagues.
Laura Mizrahi of Communications Technologies Inc. worked on many projects with Weisinger. She said in an e-mail that he was a beloved colleague to many in the broadcast field and that his presence will be deeply missed.
Weisinger is survived by his brother Albert of Old Brookville, N.Y., sister Evelyn Friscia of Southfield, Mich., and a nephew. Private services were held.
