Watch Now: Learn About Streaming Loudness Levels

Learn about AES recommendations for loudness of internet audio streaming and on-demand distribution

What are the best loudness levels to use when streaming audio or posting on-demand audio on the internet? The video below will help you answer that question.

The AES New York Section recently conducted a webinar in which members of the AES Technical Committee for Broadcast and Online Delivery discuss their recently published recommendations on that topic. Moderated by David Bialik, the session includes John Kean, Bob Katz and Bob Orban.

“Internet audio streaming and on-demand file playback have become major sources of media delivery, affecting the ways that audio is recorded, mixed, post-produced and delivered,” the organization wrote in a summary.

“Excessive loudness compromises quality, inconsistent loudness annoys listeners.” The new guidelines are intended to help resolve these issues.

The 90-minute webinar was presented in conjunction with the Society of Broadcast Engineers. Watch it here.
