Hours of Viewing Enjoyment
As a kid, I read everything and anything I could get my hands on. I loved Grit, Popular Science, Popular Mechanics … then later on started playing “radio” which included taking over our garage and building my first radio station out of motorcycle shipping boxes and refrigerator boxes (to form the studios and offices). 1940s Radio
Radio’s history is fascinating with stories that could go on and on. You could probably tell some good stories (as I know I can), from crazy listener antics to stuff other on-air staff would do to you while you were on the air. It’s all part of great old radio.
For me, radio in the 1940s was before my time, but I enjoy looking at the technology back then (and even sometimes longing for tube gear and the days where everything wasn’t over a Cat-5e cable and run off a computer processor). Here’s a look at “the good old days.”
Do-It-Yourself Antenna
Under the topic of do-it-yourself, I stumbled across this cool link to making your own “can antenna.” So if you’re looking for a quick weekend project … just for fun … and your spouse doesn’t have your “honey-do” list too full, here’s something that might be fun to play around with.
And finally …
As a fan of architecture and creative design, I love these “shipping container homes.” There are some killer creative ideas here … So if you’re thinking about building that “vacation getaway home” or a place out by a lake for fishing or hunting, here’s an idea to consider. It’s probably not a coincidence that these shipping container homes are reminiscent of my childhood shipping boxes radio studio mentioned above.
