(click thumbnail)Axia Audio will debut an addition to its line of rack- and turret-mounted accessory controllers: user-programmable SmartSwitch studio control panels.

SmartSwitch panels interface with Axia’s Pathfinder PC router control software to provide on-air hosts, guests and producers with one-touch activation of router salvos, studio switching operations, audio equipment control and custom intercom functions.

SmartSwitch studio control panels are 1 RU devices available in either 9- or 17-button configurations. They contain backlit, dynamic LCD displays, and are suitable for placement next to host or guest mic positions, or wherever fast access to switching operations is necessary such as control rooms, talent studios, production rooms and TOCs. SmartSwitch panels connect to Axia networks via Ethernet.

Axia Pathfinder PC is used to program SmartSwitch panels. It lets users construct custom routing applications to control functions within the Axia network and map them to SmartSwitch buttons.

Axia also will display new color combinations for its Element console (silver on charcoal, and bronze on charcoal); and introduce the Element Touchscreen Timer Panel, which gives board operators and hosts using Element consoles access to a timekeeping suite using console-mounted controls.

Features of the Touchscreen Timer Panel include digital and analog time-of-day clocks, configurable for 12- or 24-hour display; an elapsed-time counter with freeze and pause functions; an adjustable event countdown timer; expansion ports that can host up to five more Element studio accessories; and a Web server to ease configuration.
