Calling All College Broadcasters

Learning new skills for campus radio.

The Intercollegiate Broadcasting System has upcoming sessions that will be of interest to educational institution-based broadcasters and webcasters.

Oct. 18 the crew will be in Boston at Simmons College but all are invited. Oct. 25 the team will be at Columbia College in Chicago. On Dec. 6 IBS will be at the Webb Schools in Los Angeles.

Topics covered in the sessions include how to start a station, training and managing a staff, promotion on a small (or nonexistent) budget, station image, royalty questions, programming considerations, faculty support, FCC rules and regulations to know and the Internet.

Based on past shows, sessions can also cover production and engineering skills, with an occasional tutorial; Speakers can include former FCC regulators, professional broadcasters and other related industry professionals such as attorneys, freelance radio talent and instructors.
