The 2017 NAB Show will feature the “Alexa Skill Building Bootcamp” on Saturday, April 22 from 12:30-5 p.m. at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The new program is open to all attendees and is targeted to both software developers and non-developers. The bootcamp explores Alexa’s voice service technology, which powers the Amazon Echo connected device. It will provide an overview of voice-user technology, and participants will also receive the Alexa Skills Kit — a collection of tools, code samples and application programming interface that enable the technology. Additionally, attendees will get experience in Amazon Web Services and related background applications and systems.
“Attendees will receive the background and know-how necessary to build experiences that allow their audiences to engage with their content through this emerging platform,” said NAB Chief Technology Officer Sam Matheny, who also noted that the device’s voice-user interface has enabled consumers to “instantly play music, control smart home devices, receive news, weather and other information.”
