In-Vehicle Experience Coming to Disrupt NAB Show’s North Hall

New area will feature connected cars, passenger economy opportunities and more

The Las Vegas Convention Center’s North Hall will boast a new attraction during this year’s NAB Show: the In-Vehicle Experience.

This area will highlight “content development, delivery and monetization opportunities related to connected vehicles” via technology demos and educational talks, according to the announcement. Radio broadcasters will likely be intrigued by sessions such as “Mobility Stories for the Passenger Economy of Today and Tomorrow: A Panel Discussion With Waze and Broadcasters;” “Today’s In-Car Digital Radio Experience;” “Broadcast and IP in the Car — How Will These Converge?;” and “Beyond Audio: Radio’s Opportunity In Autonomous Vehicles, IoT, and Other Services.”

The connected car theme will also extend to the Main Stage on Monday, April 8, during a panel entitled “Autonomous Cars and Amazing Experiences: Safety, Content & Connectivity.” The panel will consist of Carla Bailo of the Center for Automotive Research; James Buczkowski of Ford Motor Co.; Shailen Bhatt of ITS America; Nakul Duggal of Qualcomm Technologies Inc.; and NAB’s Sam Matheny.

“As automobile technology evolves towards autonomy and even more advanced forms of transportation, vehicles are becoming the next frontier for content distribution. At NAB Show, we are creating a forum for media companies and automobile manufacturers to discuss and collaborate on the future of in-vehicle entertainment that maximizes the consumer experience and leverages the ‘passenger economy,’” NAB Executive Vice President of Conventions and Business Operations Chris Brown said in a press release announcing the feature.

The 2019 NAB Show exhibit halls will be open April 8–11.
