So the convention organizers have announced an awards program that will launch at the spring show. It will honor efforts that advance “conservation and reusability of natural resources and foster economic and social development.”

It was announced by Chris Brown, executive vice president of global connections and events at the National Association of Broadcasters, who said such efforts are not only good for society but they make good business sense.

Amazon Web Services is supporting the program and lending its name to the effort. NAB noted that Amazon wants to be net zero carbon by 2040.

The awards program will be administered by Barbara Lange, CEO of Kibo121. Nominations will open next month.

The awards will include several categories. The Sustainability Champion Award will honor individuals driving sustainability efforts and programs. The Sustainability Leadership Award is for organizations that have launched or completed sustainability initiatives in the past 12 months. And the Sustainability Product or Service Award honors products or services launched in the past year that improve sustainability or provide sustainable market alternatives.

Business and nonprofits can nominate. Winners in each category will be chosen for small, medium, large and non-profits.
