Audio ‘Expressly’ for You

New digital interface from MOTU has USB and FireWire

The Audio Express is the newest small digital interface from MOTU.

“Small” is becoming a relative term these days as abundant features are packed into these interface.

The Audio Express half-rack box offers a number of ways into it: two channels for mic, two channels for line (1/4-inch), S/PDIF along with goodies such as MIDI I/O and even a foot-switch input. USB 2.0 and FireWire handle the digital interfacing for storage, editing, processing and heavier multichannel work.

Performance is up to 96 kHz. The mic/guitar combo jack inputs have 48 V phantom power and 20 dB pads. Bonus features include SMPTE timecode support. A headphone output and control are on the front panel, joined by several LED meters.

Audio Express will work with basically every major software DAW and audio/music application available on the Mac or Windows platforms. It ships with MOTUs AudioDesk DAW package for Mac and CueMix FX soft mixer/signal analyzer.

Price: $449.
