Axia Audio has added a group of off-the-shelf Ethernet switches made by Hewlett-Packard to the list of models compatible with Axia IP-Audio.
The Hewlett-Packard ProCurve family joins Cisco’s Catalyst family as Axia IP-Audio friendly.
Included in the approved list from HP are the 2610-24, 2610-12/12PWR, 2610-24PWR, 2610-48 and 2610-48PWR edge switches; 2900-24G and 2900-48G core switches and 8212zl core switch.
Clark Novak, Axia Audio marketing manager, said, “Axia clients benefit from using standard Ethernet for audio routing because they can take advantage of new developments in switch technology — developments that are funded by the computer industry … Other systems lock their users into proprietary router designs; designs their creators might not have the resources to develop further.”
