Six is the lucky number for Tieline’s Merlin, which now supports up to six simultaneous SIP connections to other codec brands supporting the EBU N/ACIP 3326 standard.
This builds upon the codec’s ability to deliver up to six simultaneous outside broadcast connections with Tieline codecs and Report-IT, says Tieline.
Merlin also supports transmitting up to six simultaneous full-duplex I3P-compliant (I3P EBU Tech 3347) intercom streams to a single device, or to six separate devices at different remote OB sites.
In addition the unit is fitted with dual power supplies, dual Ethernet ports and contains SmartStream PLUS redundant IP streaming software. It can connect two simultaneous bidirectional stereo outside broadcast connections, each with a separate full-duplex intercom channel. Moreover, the firm says, Merlin can encode six simultaneous streams of audio using Opus encoding.
A WheatNet-IP version of the codec is available, compliant with the AES67 AoIP interoperability standard.
