Broadcast Partners Deploys Horizon NextGen IP

52 AoIP codec units now in use in Benelux countries

APT, the audio codec arm within the WorldCast Systems group, has sold 52 Horizon NextGen IP audio platforms to broadcast network provider Broadcast Partners.

Broadcast Partners received the AoIP codec units in 2012 and have now deployed them throughout its network of commercial radio station transmission sites in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Denmark.

According to the company, the Horizon NextGens have been installed on both new studio transmitter links over IP connections and also on existing links where ISDN connections have been replaced by IP.

APT’s Horizon NextGen features a DSP-based platform, dual IP ports, redundant power supplies and APT’s SureStream technology.

With a network spanning more than 350 FM transmitters, 40 DAB transmitters and AM transmitters, the need for reliability and control were cited as key to the selection of APT’s Horizon NextGen, said the firm.

“We have tested the NextGens extensively and they turned out to be very reliable and to deliver an excellent quality,” said Werner de Schepper, manager of the technical and engineering department within Broadcast Partners.”
