(click thumbnail)Comrex will unveil the new DH42 digital telephone hybrid.
It accommodates two traditional POTS lines as well as two voice-over-IP lines in a single rack unit. Essentially a four-line conferencing hybrid, the unit allows callers to be put on the air with separate send and receive paths, filtering, AGC and control functions.
VoIP telco lines offer a low-cost alternative to traditional analog POTS, the company notes, and VoIP technology also is found in SIP-based PBX phone systems. The new hybrid offers broadcasters the ability to interface Internet-based VoIP lines or VoIP PBX lines with audio consoles and other broadcast gear.
